Vanquish Yachts sells majority stake to Dutch private equity firm Transequity Network
Vanquish Yachts is a Dutch shipyard that manufactures fully hand-crafted, customizable luxury sporting yachts for demanding individuals. In only 5 years, the firm has gained a reputation of building extremely high-quality aluminium yachts that have distinctive design and combine a superior driving experience with above average usability. Vanquish Yachts was established from four convictions: passion for cars and speed, working and innovating with aluminum, shaking up the traditional Dutch shipbuiding market and becoming the best player in a niche market. Vanquish only works with renowned suppliers offering high quality products, high delivery reliability, short delivery time and worldwide service. Global customer base of high net worth individuals currently mainly from Europe and Americas. The firm has sales points in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Greece, United States, Mexico, China, Australia and New Zealand.
Transequity Network is a hands-on investor focusing on Dutch, mid-sized companies with distinct market position and perspective for significant (international) growth. Portfolio companies are active in Industry, Trade and Services sectors. Transequity Network is currently participating in 10 companies ranging from a technical wholesaler to a packaging company for the food industry.
Vanquish Yachts has sold a majority of the shares to private equity firm Transequity Network. Vanquish Yachts is the brainchild of Tom Steentjes, a Dutchman with a rare sense for business and a unique technical talent. Having started as a welder at 14, he founded his own company as soon as he got his driving license: “I love finding new solutions and buck the trend. Having seen what can be achieved with aluminum and stainless steel in my previous company, I was convinced we could do something fresh and innovative in the sports boat world, so I partnered with like-minded designers, craftsmen and engineers to create Vanquish Yachts, and make yachts for people who share my love of style, fun, speed and maneuverability.”
After 5 years, Tom Steentjes decided to look for a financial partner in order to further accelerate (international) growth. Tom states: “The acquisition offers us the opportunity to speed up our growth ambitions even further. We have extensive knowledge and experience with the aluminum yacht building industry and the quality we offer has boosted our reputation enormously. It’s not a coincidence that Vanquish is already the most chartered day cruiser in Ibiza at this moment. With our new partner, we plan to attract a CCO and scale up our sales efforts in the USA, which is starting to become an important market for Vanquish. I’m looking forward to working together and trust that with the new combination, we can continue to show double digit growth figures.” Tom Steentjes will continue his position as director of Vanquish Yachts in the new setting.
